What is TECAR Therapy?

TECAR© stands for the spanish acronym Tranferencia Electica CApacitiva Resistiva, meaning Capacitive Resistive Electric Transference. It is a diathermy (i.e. deep tissue thermotherapy) therapeutic therapy, therefore it uses increases in local body tissue temperature, in combination with subthermal application to promote the body’s natural healing response and improve tissue perfusion.

TECAR© technology works with two modes of energy transfer to non-invasively stimulate the body’s natural repair mechanisms, promote cellular exchange, increase microcirculation, vascularization and lymphatic drainage.

What are the Results With TECAR Therapy?

The unique combination of TECAR therapy & manual therapy treatments offers great results and a faster recovery of injured tissue. Research has shown that with the use of TECAR in recovery from injury to be at least 2X faster than with manual therapy alone, with improved healing to also prevent re-injury.

TECAR therapy has been shown to improve recovery in acute, chronic and re-occurring pain and injuries especially combined with other manual and rehabilitaton techniques.

What Injuries Can be Treated Using TECAR Therapy?

TECAR Therapy provides a range of unique treatments for acute, subacute and chronic conditions with very few contraindications to treatment.

Muscle injuries and tears

Supports recovery from strains, overload injuries, and muscle tightness by improving blood flow and tissue repair.

Ligament injuries

Helps manage pain and inflammation associated with ligament sprains and joint instability.

Tendinopathies

Commonly used for chronic tendon conditions such as Achilles tendinopathy, patellar tendinopathy, and tennis elbow.

Acute post-traumatic stress

Targeted physiotherapy support following injury or trauma to reduce pain, manage inflammation, and support tissue recovery during the early stages of rehabilitation.

Joint pain and Osteoarthritis

Personalised physiotherapy to reduce joint pain, improve mobility, and support long-term joint health through strength, movement, and load management.

Sprains

Assessment and rehabilitation for ligament sprains to reduce swelling, restore stability, and support a safe return to movement and activity.

Lower back pain and sciatica

Specialist physiotherapy to relieve lower back pain and nerve-related symptoms, improve mobility, and address underlying movement or postural factors.

Acute odeama

Targeted treatment to reduce swelling, improve circulation, and support tissue recovery following injury, surgery, or inflammation.

What Does The Evidence Show?

The clinical evidence supporting Tecar therapy is based on frequency measurements and their correlation with cell membrane permeabilization. This permeabilization promotes intracellular and extracellular activity, accelerating natural regeneration in biological tissue. The low energy level ensures it is non-invasive and 100% natural for the human body.

In 2013, the Winback team developed physiotherapy protocols using a new generation of devices that were more intuitive, adaptable, and more effective – Winback energy was born

Signs to Seek Treatment

If you are experiencing persistent pain that does not improve with rest, ongoing muscle tightness or stiffness that limits movement, or slow recovery following an injury or surgery, it may be time to seek treatment. Recurrent pain during activity or exercise, as well as ongoing tendon or joint discomfort that affects daily function, can also indicate the need for professional assessment and targeted therapy.
